The Milwaukee Brewers ended the first half of the 2023 MLB regular season against the Cincinnati Reds at home. Milwaukee will now open up the second half of the 2023 MLB regular season in Cincinnati, Ohio, on the road.
The Brewers have a 49-42 record, and the Reds have a 50-41 record. Milwaukee is currently a game back of them in the NL Central Standings. The only path for them to make the postseason is likely by winning the division. This is a series that will be extremely tough but also very winnable. Getting swept is something that the Milwaukee Brewers can’t do.
Milwaukee Brewers Kickoff Second Half at the Cincinnati Reds
Friday’s probable pitchers: Corbin Burnes (7-5 record, 3.94 ERA, 102 K) vs. Graham Ashcraft (4-6 record, 6.28 ERA, 61 K)
Saturday’s probable pitchers: Freddy Peralta (5-7 record, 4.70 ERA, 107 K) vs. Andrew Abbott (4-1 record, 2.38 ERA, 48 K)
Sunday probable pitchers: Adrian Houser (3-2 record, 3.68 ERA, 34 K) vs. Ben Lively (4-5 record, 3.83 ERA, 50 K).
It feels like the Cincinnati Reds have a bit better of a starting rotation in this series than the Milwaukee Brewers. Still, it feels like it could be a wash.
Milwaukee Brewers Stats

Cincinnati Reds Stats

Elly De La Cruz is one of the most electrifying rookies in all of MLB, playing in 30 games so far this season for Cincinnati. He has a .325 batting average with four home runs and 16 RBIs, along with 16 stolen bases.
Jonathan India has played in 91 games so far this season for the Reds. He has a .250 batting average with 13 home runs and 49 RBIs, along with 12 stolen bases.
One of the things is that the Cincinnati Reds have better bats than the Milwaukee Brewers do. The Brewers starting pitching will need to limit the Reds’ offensive chances in this series. If that doesn’t happen, then it could be a big problem for them.
