The Milwaukee Brewers concluded 2025 Spring Training with a 4-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Monday afternoon. Tomorrow, they will depart Phoenix, Arizona and fly to the Bronx where they will face the New York Yankees in their opening series beginning on Thursday.
Milwaukee’s win was highlighted by five shutout innings from Nestor Cortes, whom they acquired from the Yankees earlier this offseason in the trade that sent two-time All-Star closer Devin Williams to New York. Cortes allowed three hits, one walk, and struck out five.
Additionally, the Brewers’ victory saw several of their position players continue their torrid springs.
Milwaukee Brewers Outfielders Continued to Impress Against the Colorado Rockies

21-year-old budding Brewers superstar Jackson Chourio hit leadoff for Milwaukee on Monday. He went 1-2 with a double before being pulled from the game to preserve him for the season opener. Chourio ends his 2025 Spring Training with a slash line of .469/.509/.714 with a home run, eight RBI, and six stolen bases.
Three-time All-Star Christian Yelich hit second in the batting order for the Brewers, also going 1-2 with a double. He ends his spring, his first since season-ending back surgery, with averages of .353/.389/.735 with three home runs and 11 RBI.
Finally, Gold Glove outfielder Sal Frelick, who showed up to camp after putting on over 20 pounds of muscle during the offseason, went 2-2 with two RBI. He ends Spring Training with a line of .390/.457/.561 with two home runs and 10 RBI.
Milwaukee Brewers Right Fielder Sal Frelick Is Ready After a Minor Injury

For Frelick, it was his first Spring Training game since March 18. According to reports, he had held back by a calf injury that, as it turns out, was so incredibly minor, he would not have missed any time if it had been the regular season. Still, Frelick and the Brewers wanted to be cautious.
After the game he spoke with Brewers insider Adam McCalvy about how it important it was for him to come back for one last game before the regular season starts:
“Probably wouldn’t even say anything if it was during the season. I just want to make sure I’m full go for these guys and going into the season healthy, which is definitely more important than missing a few games in spring.
“Absolutely [it was important for me to play in this game] For my teammates, too, to show them Sal is good to go. Even though I’ve been telling them that. Obviously being out there with them for the last game before we head out is important.”
Frelick also metaphorically waved his hand at his insane batting line during Spring Training. He told McCalvy “It doesn’t count.” Like many players, the Gold Glove right fielder said the most important thing was to come out of Spring Training feeling good and comfortable at the plate.
And he certainly is.
