The Milwaukee Brewers have strong ties to the state of California, which was ravaged by terrible wildfires in late 2024. Current Brewers left fielder Christian Yelich is a resident of the state, as is team legend Ryan Braun and owner Mark Attanasio.
But while these Brewers icons were spared any reported damages from the wildfires, millions of others lost everything they had. This weekend, Braun and Attanasio teamed up with the organization California Strong to help families, and especially kids, get some joy back into their lives.

On Sunday morning, it was reported that Braun and Attanasio, along with baseball equipment companies Rawlings and Easton and Los Angeles Dodgers star Justin Turner, donated hundreds of gloves, bats, and helmets to kids who lost their possessions in the California wildfires:

Per Brewers insider Adam McCalvy, they gave away 250 bats, 300 baseball/softball gloves, 300 pairs of batting gloves, six pallets of apparel and cleats, and 1,000 Stanley mugs.
“We see it here today. We see how emotional people are reconnecting with their teammates,” Braun said in an interview. “Some of these guys are play in the same little league or the same high school. They hadn’t had an opportunity to see each other. You come back together and you see their camaraderie and chemistry of being around your friends.
“There’s something about baseball and softball communities. It is a small tight-knit community, and we’re reminded of that any time at any event like this today.”
