In the grand scheme of opening media sessions one might say that both Pat Murphy and Rickie Weeks knocked this one out of the park. There were plenty of laughs, enthusiasm, and seriousness as well. Here we take a look at three eye opening quotes from the Brewers new skipper.

The first quote we will mention talks about his coaching philosophy. He compared the role of a manager to that of an offensive lineman, opening holes for a player to run through. His exact quote was that he believes in love and discipline, in that order.
Another notable quote was in regards to winning a championship. Milwaukee has not won a playoff series since 2018 and is one of a few organizations without a World Series trophy. Pat Murphy said, “You don’t necessarily win championships with resources, you win championships with people. We want to get the players to play at the high end of their value. That creates a culture of responsibility. That creates a culture of, ‘Hey, the expectation is to win.'”

Lastly there were Pat Murphy’s thoughts on Rickie Weeks being his associate manager. Rickie Weeks could have easily been given the title of bench coach, but the Brewers elected to give him a more meaningful role. Pat Muphy said, “This was to establish up front that Rickie coming here is going to be a major impact. Titles, you can dissect them in different ways, but he’s going to have a huge role in molding and shaping the mindset of this.”
