The Milwaukee Brewers and New York Yankees were recently linked together in a massive trade proposal. On Fansided writer Adam Weinrib of Yankes Go Yard discussed a package that would send both Corbin Burnes and Willy Adames to the Bronx. In return Milwaukee would get six total prospects. Let’s take a deeper dive into this proposal.
Milwaukee Brewers-New York Yankees trade proposal sends six prospects to the Crew in exchange for Corbin Burnes and Willy Adames.
Proposed Trade:
Yankees receive:
- RHP Corbin Burnes and SS Willy Adames
Brewers receive:
- One of SS Oswald Peraza or OF Everson Pereira
- Two of RHP Drew Thorpe, RHP Chase Hampton, and RHP Will Warren
- All of SS Keiner Delgado, LHP Henry Lalane and SS Roderick Arias
Headlining this six prospect package is either Oswald Peraza or Everson Pereira. Both have limited MLB experience as Oswald Peraza has appeared in 70 games over the past two years and Everson Pereira just 27 this year. Oswald Peraza is out of minor league options and has not found success at the plate in the big leagues (68 career OPS+) and Everson Pereira struck out 40 times in 93 at-bats this year.
In the pitching tier of this trade package is a trio of right-handed pitching prospects in which the proposal has the Yankees parting ways with two of them. Starting pitcher Drew Thrope is New York’s fifth ranked prospect, was a second round draft selection in 2022, and has an incredible change up.
Chase Hampton, also a starting pitcher, is the fourth ranked prospect who was selected in the sixth round in the 2022 draft. He struck out 145 batters in 106 innings pitched across the High-A and Double-A levels this year. Lastly there is Will Warren. He is the Yankees 10th ranked prospect, but of the other starting pitchers mentioned he is the closest to MLB ready.
The last row of players mentioned in the trade package were Florida Complex League players Keiner Delgado, Henry Lalane, and Roderick Arias. Roderick Arias was their top International Signee in 2022 at $4.00 MM. All are just 19 years of age with lots of development left to go.
Overall this is a lot of players to give up for one year of both Corbin Burnes and Willy Adames. However both of the MLB players mentioned have not had success and the strength of this package is based on Milwaukee receiving two top pitching prospects and their top 2022 International Signee.
The flaw with this proposal is that the MLB players involved have not had success. Milwaukee is currently not looking to rebuild their farm system and rather is looking to remain competitive by adding controllable pieces to their already young roster. This trade proposal would be more appealing if better quality immediately impactful MLB players were involved.

Looks to me like the two MLB players heading for the Brewers in this trade have pretty much zero value.
Several other teams would have no problem paying a higher premium to aquire just Corbin Burnes alone then add Adames too?!!?
The Blue Jays could give them 2-3 higher quality prospects and a couple roster players. They could fill their hole at 2B with Adames and who couldn’t or wouldn’t want a young Ace who has already won a Cy Young.
Why Willy Adames when he’ll only be with us for a year?
