The Milwaukee Brewers completed the three-game (and season series) sweep of the Washington Nationals on Sunday afternoon, demolishing the lowly Nats 14-3 in the nation’s capital. They now are 67-44 on the season, good for the best record in Major League Baseball and a two-game lead over the Chicago Cubs in the National League Central Division.
Additionally, Milwaukee now owns a +119 run differential, which is also the best in baseball. During their 0-4 start, the Brewers had a -32 run differential, setting the MLB record for the worst such mark through the first four games of a season.
In recent weeks, it has been said that the Brewers have embraced the “power of friendship” to lead this unsuspecting group of “average Joe’s” to the league’s best record. And while that is sentimental and all, their weekend sweep embraced a power even stronger than that and whatever slugging bat they did not acquire at the trade deadline: family.
Milwaukee Brewers Second Baseman Brice Turang Has a New Adopted Nephew

Those that follow the Brewers closely know that second baseman Brice Turang comes from an athletic family. His father, Brian Turang, played two seasons in the Majors, and Milwaukee’s Platinum Glove winner chose his number, #2, to honor his father (who wore #1).
But what many did not realize is that Turang’s older sister, Brianna Turang, is married to Tress Way, the punter for the Washington Commanders.
According to MLB insider Grant Paulson, the Brewers allowed Turang to fly to Washington DC a day early before the rest of the team. His sister and her husband were finalizing the legal adoption of their son, and Turang was able to be present for it.

Turang did not play in the first game of the series due to a left-handed pitcher being on the mound for Washington. But in the two games he did play, he was 5-11 from the plate with two doubles, two home runs, and five RBI.
Milwaukee Brewers Starting Pitcher Logan Henderson Needed a Ride from His Parents to Make It to Washington DC

As fans are aware, Logan Henderson was recalled from Triple-A Nashville in order to start for rookie phenom Jacob Misiorowski, who was placed on the 15-day injured list with a left tibia contusion. Henderson previously pitched for the Brewers early in the season, becoming the first pitcher in franchise history to win each of his first three starts.
When Misiorowski was placed on the injured list, many fans assumed that it was a ploy to manage his innings as he already has pitched more this year than in any professional season. And while that is certainly a benefit, if that were the main reason, Milwaukee would have planned the timing better.
When Henderson was informed he had to get to Washington D.C. to start for the Brewers, it was Saturday night and there were no flights available from Nashville to the nation’s capital.
So he hitched a ride with his parents, who drove him 660+ miles, a near 10-hour drive, from his Triple-A home to make his long-awaited return to the Majors.

Henderson pitched 4.1 innings, allowed one run on three hits and two walks, and struck out four. He has a 1.78 ERA through his first five career starts.
