The Milwaukee Brewers #1 prospect according to MLB Pipeline is catcher Jeferson Quero. He missed all of last season due to a shoulder injury sustained on Opening Day in the minor leagues that ultimately required surgery. While he was active in camp this spring, he was not placed on the Triple-A roster.
Why did the Milwaukee Brewers not list Jeferson Quero on a minor league roster?

Last week the Brewers announced their Opening Day minor league rosters. Missing was catcher Jeferson Quero. His transaction page on MiLB.com said he was initially optioned to Triple-A, then re-assigned to Double-A, and then again on March 31, assigned back to Triple-A.
So what’s going on?
According to Andrew Wagner, a hamstring issue has delayed his start to the season. This appeared last week and as a result Quero is still in Arizona. Eventually he will report to Triple-A Nashville.
A little prospect news of note:
C Jefferson Quero’s comeback will be delayed a little longer due to a slight hamstring issue that popped up last week. VP of player ops Tom Flanagan said Quero will remain in Arizona for a few weeks to rehab and eventually head to Nashville.

Overall, this news is reassuring in that now we know that Quero did not have set back with his surgically repaired throwing shoulder.
While Quero is on the mend, Jorge Alfaro and Wes Clarke are listed as the two available catchers for the Nashville Sounds.
