Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell is hoping to make more of an impact during the 2025 MLB season. He could be someone in the Brewers lineup to step up.
A season ago, Milwaukee finished with a 93-69 record to win the National League Central division title once again. The Milwaukee Brewers lost to the New York Mets in the National League Wild Card round. Spring training for the 2025 MLB season is right around the corner.
MLB.com Has Milwaukee Brewers Outfielder Garrett Mitchell As a Breakout Candidate For the 2025 MLB Season
Thomas Harrigan of mlb.com created a list of 10 potential players who could potentially break out during the 2025 MLB season. One of those players he had on his list was Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell. Harrigan said:
“Injuries have stalled Mitchell’s attempts to cement himself as the Brewers’ starting center fielder over the past two seasons. After missing most of 2023 with a left shoulder subluxation, Mitchell fractured his left index finger last spring and didn’t make his 2024 debut until July 1. However, he posted impressive numbers after returning from the injured list, recording eight homers, 11 steals and a 126 wRC+ over 224 plate appearances, while also providing plus defense in center field. His strong performance helped the Crew overcome the loss of Christian Yelich to a season-ending back injury in late July. Yelich is expected to be healthy for Opening Day, but star shortstop Willy Adames’ departure as a free agent has left a gap in Milwaukee’s lineup. Mitchell is one of the young players the Brewers will be counting on to step up as they look to replace Adames’ production in 2025.”
Mitchell is 26 years old. Last season with the Milwaukee Brewers, he had a .255 batting average with eight home runs and 21 RBIs, along with 11 stolen bases. His on-base percentage was .342. It will be interesting to see what kind of numbers he will put up in a bigger role for this baseball team this season.
Outfield Depth
Mitchell is projected to be the starting center fielder for the Brewers in 2025. Jackson Chourio is projected to be the starting left fielder and Sal Frelick is projected to be the starting right field. For now, they don’t have Christian Yelich as a potential starting outfielder for 2025.
Mitchell has a chance to be productive this season if he stays healthy. The Brewers will need other players to step up outside of Jackson Chourio and William Contreras also.
