Last night, during the Milwaukee Brewers demoralizing 8-6 loss, first baseman Rhys Hoskins left the game due to a lower body strain. Milwaukee knows they need all their great bats to be healthy if they want to stay on top and clinch the NL Central division. In the second game of a three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Brewers poured on a four-run second inning to take a 4-3 win at home. Sal Frelick shined during the win as he hit his first home run of the season, a two-run shot.
The Brewers are now 25-17 after the win. They sit a game and a half above the Chicago Cubs for first place in the NL Central. With the loss, the Pirates are 19-24. Pittsburgh is six and a half games back from the Brewers for first place. This final game of the season will be important for both franchises.
Milwaukee Brewers Explode For 4 Run Second Inning to Obtain 25th Win

During the bottom of the second inning, Brewers center fielder Sal Frelick crushed his fist homer of the year. It was a two-run shot to right field. With two outs and runners at the corners three batters later, Brewers second baseman Brice Turang mashed an RBI single to left field. Two batters after Turang’s RBI single, Milwaukee’s left fielder Christian Yelich hit an RBI ground ball single past Pirates second baseman Nick Gonzales and ended up in right-center field.
Pirates Try for Comeback but It’s Not Enough

Another player would hit their first home run of the season during this matchup as Pirates second baseman Nick Gonzales obliterated a two-run shot to left field. There would be no runs that scored until the top of the ninth inning. Pittsburgh’s first baseman Connor Joe hit a solo home run to left field to cut the Pirates deficit to just one run. However, Trevor Megill was able to strike out Pirates left fielder Jack Suwinski, picking up a save opportunity and the Brewers 4-3 win.
