The Milwaukee Brewers have been without closer Devin Williams for the entire 2024 regular season. During spring training a back issue that initially presented at the end of the 2023 season re-occurred and after seeing a specialist he was diagnosed with a stress fracture. He is now scheduled for one significant milestone in his recovery process.
Devin Williams is scheduled to throw off a mound on June 26.

After going through a prolonged period of rest and rehabilitation Devin Williams has been throwing on flat ground and making his way through a throwing progression. His next major milestone will be throwing off a mound and per MLB.com he is scheduled to do this on June 26.
Trevor Megill has been operating as the Milwaukee Brewers primary closer in Devin Williams absence.

After initially going by a closer by committee type of approach that featured Abner Uribe and Joel Payamps it has been Trevor Megill who has emerged as the Brewers primary closer. Megill has converted on 15 out of 16 save opportunities and he has a season ERA of 1.93.
Who will be the Milwaukee Brewers closer once Devin Williams returns?

Right now Devin Williams expected return date is still post All-Star break/late July. If this holds true then the Brewers will get him for the final two months of the regular season. When healthy Williams has proven that he is one of the best relievers in the game and his track record should immediately place him back in the closers role.
