Milwaukee Brewers Outfielder Clears Waivers and Returns to Triple-A Nashville

The Milwaukee Brewers have lost two outfielders due to injury since Spring Training started back in February. Center fielder Blake Perkins fractured his shin after he fouled a ball off of his leg during batting practice. And while he has begun a rehab assignment to return, he was recently placed back on the injured list with a groin strain.

Garrett Mitchell made the Brewers’ Opening Day roster, but hit just .206/.286/.294 in 25 games. He strained his oblique early in the season and was placed on the injured list. Unfortunately, during his rehab assignment, he hurt his shoulder, the same one in which he tore his labrum in 2023, and needed season-ending surgery.

Fortunately for Milwaukee, the play of Isaac Collins in left field has been a godsend. The rookie outfielder made the Opening Day roster as a near afterthought, but has emerged as one of the best defensive outfielders in baseball. He is also hitting well at the plate, slashing .263/.366/.406 with five home runs and 21 RBI.

Unfortunately for other players in the Brewers’ system, Collins’ production has meant few opportunities for them on the Major League level.

The Milwaukee Brewers Sent Daz Cameron to Triple-A Nashville

As mentioned, Collins was added to the Opening Day roster as a near afterthought, with many believing he would just be a utility player. When Perkins and Mitchell were on the injured list early in the season, the Brewers acquired outfielder Daz Cameron, the son of former Milwaukee star Mike Cameron, to add some depth.

Initially sent to Triple-A after he was acquired, Cameron was called up to boost the outfield depth after tearing up Nashville. However, he has not produced on the Major League level, hitting .195/.214/.293 with a home run and three RBI in 21 games.

Earlier last week, the Brewers designated Cameron for assignment, prompting his father to post the following message on social media:

Welp had to take off the Brewers as a favorite team unfortunately my kid is no longer there … hopefully there is a team out there that needs a kid who can play the game of baseball! Signing off🫡

    — MIKE CAMERON (@_mcameron44) July 2, 2025

Fortunately for the Cameron family, Milwaukee is not done with them yet. Daz cleared waivers, which means no other team wanted him on their Major League roster. He returned to the Brewers organization, therefore, and was sent back to Nashville:

Brewers roster move: OF Daz Cameron cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Nashville.

So far this season, on the Triple-A affiliates of the Brewers and Baltimore Orioles, Cameron is hitting .328/.384/.703 with six home runs and 21 RBI.

And hopefully the elder Cameron reconsiders his statement and keeps Milwaukee as a favorite team.
