Milwaukee Brewers All-Star outfielder Christian Yelich underwent season ending back surgery on August 16 as Dr. Brandon Rebholz performed a minimally invasive microdisectomy. Yelich recently rejoined the Brew Crew and spoke on a variety of topics including his timeline for full recovery.
Christian Yelich expects to be a full go in 2025 for the start of Spring Training.
Per Adam McCalvy of MLB.com Yelich expects a three-month recovery from the procedure that was performed to mitigate pain and the effects of a herniated disk. With that being the case this leaves plenty of time for him to be ready for the start of next year’s Spring Training. He also should also have a mostly normal off-season.
Christian Yelich does not expect back surgery to negatively impact his career.
Yelich also believes that this procedure will set him up for better years in the future. In an interview Yelich said, “I think everybody sees ‘back surgery’ and they think, ‘Oh, that’s the end of your career.’ But in my mind, that couldn’t be any farther from the truth. I think that it’s going to help me tremendously. I think I’ll feel a lot better than I have in the last few years.”
The Milwaukee Brewers will be counting on Christian Yelich for years to come.
This year Christian Yelich was having his best season since 2019. Hopefully he will be able to recreate the success that he was having in 2025 and years to come because he is under contract (with a full no-trade clause) with the Milwaukee Brewers until at least 2028.
