Milwaukee Brewers star Christian Yelich has been enjoying a great bounce back 2023 season in which the former MVP has a .274/.363/.435 slash line with a 117 OPS and 27 stolen bases. Unfortunately a familiar injury has been keeping him sidelined over the past three games and he is considered day-to-day.
Christian Yelich has missed the last three Milwaukee Brewers games with low back stiffness.
The last game that Christian Yelich played in was on Friday, September 8 against the New York Yankees. To begin September he was in a 3-29 slump and his back may have been impacting him throughout this stretch. He does have a history of low back issues that have caused him to miss substantial time in the past, but for now he is considered day-to-day.
According to manager Craig Counsell’s update on Monday, September 11 Christian Yelich last did some running on a treadmill and “what comes from that activity today will lead to tomorrow”. Prior to returning he will need to get some field work in as well as hitting, so based on that report it seems likely that he is at minimum more than a few days out from returning to the starting lineup.
Thankfully the Brewers have been able to maintain a lead in the National League Central Division with Yelich out, but they will need him to be at full health if they are going to make a run in the playoffs.
