Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff tossed his first career shutout on Monday against the Miami Marlins. The game prior, against the New York Yankees, Corbin Burnes tossed eight no-hit innings. Those are two tremendous starts and it breached a territory last accomplished by the team in 2008.

Brandon Woodruff and Corbin Burnes accomplish a statistic last accomplished by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2008.
According to Elias Sports Corbin Burnes and Brandon Woodruff are the first Brewers pitchers to throw consecutive scoreless starts of eight-plus innings since CC Sabathia and Ben Sheets on August 8-9, 2008. Both of those games came against the Washington Nationals.
On August 8, 2008 CC Sabathia tossed a complete game shutout on 103 pitches. He allowed five hits, one walk, and struck out nine batters. A day later Ben Sheets posted a similar stat line of a complete game shutout, 113 pitches, five hits allowed, zero walks, and six punch outs.
While CC Sabathia was on an entirely different level in 2008, when health permitted the one-two punch of him and Ben Sheets was one of the best in the league at the time. Similarly Corbin Burnes and Brandon Woodruff are in that same position but they also have Freddy Peralta and Wade Miley behind them in which they have been excellent as well.
