The 2025 MLB season has not yet begun, and the Milwaukee Brewers are already dealing with concerns regarding their starting pitching depth. Last year, the Brewers used 17 different starters/openers, and while they would like to avoid any injuries to their starting rotation, the reality is that injuries happen.
DL Hall was recently placed on the 60-day IL with a lat injury. Brandon Woodruff is progressing well after he missed almost two seasons with a shoulder injury, but his status for opening day is up in the air.
And while Milwaukee has added Jose Quintana, there is absolutely no guarantee that every single one of their starting pitchers will be available all year long. Fortunately, it sounds like Aaron Ashby, who also suffered an injury this spring, will not be out as long as everyone originally feared.
Milwaukee Brewers LHP Aaron Ashby Got Great News After a Second Opinion

Ashby has gotten off to a rough start this spring. In three games, he is 1-1 with an 18.00 ERA in three innings pitched. He got pulled early from his last appearance after suffering an oblique strain.
Initially, MRI tests were inconclusive regarding the extent of the injury. Due to the unknown, there was thought that the oft-injured left-hander would again be out for an extended period of time.
Thankfully, that is not going to be the case:
Brewers lefty Aaron Ashby said the second opinion of his right oblique strain was better than the first. He’ll be shut down for about two weeks before resuming throwing, and still anticipates building up as a starter.

As one can see from Adam McCalvy’s post, Ashby is going to be shut down for two weeks to let his oblique heal. Then, he will be able to resume throwing and will build up to the point where he can start games for the Brewers this season.
After returning from injury last year, Ashby was 1-2 with a 2.86 ERA in 14 games (two starts).
Currently, Milwaukee’s starting rotation is looking to be Freddy Peralta, Tobias Myers, Jose Quintana, Aaron Civale, and Nestor Cortes.
Ashby, Hall, and Woodruff will also factor into the starting rotation at some point.
