Nine Milwaukee Brewers MiLB players elect free agency
Among this list a few of them have experience in the big leagues with the Brewers. Jason Alexander had a large role as a spot starter and swingman during the 2022 season, but an injury delayed his start to the 2023 campaign and then he never got into a groove after that. This eventually led to him being removed from the 40-man roster and eligible to elect free agency.
Caleb Boushley, a Wisconsin native, shined during his lone MLB appearance that came against the Chicago Cubs during the last series of the regular season. He was outrighted at the beginning of November and is joining Jason Alexander as an available free agent pitcher with big league experience.

Lastly there is catcher Payton Henry. Milwaukee re-acquired him via trade last off-season from the Miami Marlins and added him to the 40-man roster as their third catcher. He was designated for assignment in April but elected to remain in the organization. In 2023 he did not have a big league appearance but he did with the Marlins in both 2021 and 2022.

Other notables who elected free agency, who do not have MLB experience, include Cam Robinson and Tyler Herb. Cam Robinson was added to the 40-man roster last season because he was Rule-5 draft eligible, but he struggled in 2023 and eventually lost that spot. Tyler Herb, who joined the Brewers organization in 2022 as a non-roster invitee to spring training, also has elected free agency.
These transactions did not all occur on one day, but rather are a summary of minor league players who have elected free agency over the past week or so. The major league non-tender deadline is coming up on November 17, so more well known players will soon be entering the free agent pool.
