The Milwaukee Admirals started the 2023-2024 season, and Denis Gurianov scored a goal for them in a 2-1 win over the Chicago Wolves this past Saturday night in overtime in the AHL regular-season opener. He also had a plus/minus rating of 1 in that hockey game as well. Gurianov played for the Nashville Predators during the NHL preseason, but he is currently in the AHL getting game reps.
He has had an interesting NHL career, and now he is trying to get his game back at the AHL level. Hopefully, he can get back to the NHL during the 2023-2024 regular season. There is no doubt there will be injuries at some point for Nashville.
Denis Gurianov playing for the Milwaukee Admirals could maybe humble him and get him back to his game. He is 26 years old and was the 12th overall pick (first-round selection) in the 2015 NHL Draft. Gurianov has one of the biggest goals scored in Dallas Stars history when he scored the game-winning goal on the power play in overtime in the 2020 Western Conference Finals, and it sent them to the Stanley Cup Finals.
They defeated the Vegas Golden Knights in that round before they lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games in the NHL Stanley Cup Finals that season.
The Milwaukee Admirals Need Denis Gurianov to Play Well In Order To Get NHL Play Time Again
It is never a bad thing to get reps at the AHL in order to find your game back. Gurianov played for the Dallas Stars and the Montreal Canadiens last season in the NHL. In 66 total games, he only scored seven goals and recorded 10 assists. His plus/minus rating was -9 last season.
The best year he had in the NHL was during his rookie season in 2019-2020. In 64 games played that season, Gurianov scored 20 goals and recorded nine assists, with a plus/minus rating of 13. During the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs that season, he played in 27 games, scored nine goals, and recorded eight assists, along with a plus/minus rating of 0.
As long as Denis Gurianov plays well at the AHL level this season for the Milwaukee Admirals, that means that Milwaukee is winning hockey games, and an NHL promotion to the Nashville Predators doesn’t feel far off. The Dallas Stars were hoping he would have the best stuff after his rookie season, but it never turned out to be the case.
