Former Milwaukee Brewers infielder Mike Brosseau has reportedly signed with a National League west team. Brosseau, who last played in the big leagues in 2023, will be looking to make a comeback whereas the player Milwaukee initially gave up to acquire him via trade in 2021 is currently on a 40-man roster elsewhere.
Mike Brosseau reportedly has signed with the San Diego Padres
Joe Rosen, an agent at Icon Sports Management, confirmed that Mike Brosseau has signed with the San Diego Padres. While the specifics of the contract were not disclosed, given that Brosseau spent time in the minor leagues with both the Royals and Mets last season, it’s likely that the deal is a minor league contract.
Congrats to client @mikebrosseau10 on signing with the @Padres!

How did the Milwaukee Brewers acquire Mike Brosseau in 2021?
In November of 2021, the Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays agreed to a deal that sent Mike Brosseau to the mid west and pitching prospect Evan Reifert down south. Brosseau split time between the major and minor leagues throughout two years with the Brew Crew and eventually was granted an opportunity to play in Japan in 2023. He returned to the United States last year and broke out in the Mets farm system to the tune of a .809 OPS with 15 home runs across 93 Triple-A games.
Evan Reifert was a Rule-5 draft selection this year by the Washington Nationals
In this year’s Rule-5 draft, two former Milwaukee Brewers pitchers were selected. Shane Smith was the first player taken by the Chicago White Sox and Evan Reifert afterwards by the Nationals. Reifert has great swing and miss ability, especially with his slider, but will need to harness his control in order to be success at the MLB level in 2025.
