The Marquette Golden Eagles-Villanova Wildcats game over the weekend was already over by the second half as the former cannot get anything from their starting five.

The Wildcats got one back at the Golden Eagles almost a month after their loss at the Fiserv Forum. They did it through a barrage of three pointers and making the starting unit suffocate from their defense.
There is generally no good takeaway from that game except for Zaide Lowery who scored his career high of 25 points off the bench.
The starting unit struggled offensively with Kam Jones scoring just 10 points from 11 attempts while Chase Ross had 11 on four out of six shooting.
The rest of the starting five – David Joplin, Stevie Mitchell, and Ben Gold – combined for just nine points and took 15 shots in total.

Head coach Shaka Smart thought he could not get anything anymore from his main unit and so, he took them out early in the second half.
Lowery answered the call and made the most out of the opportunity.
Zaide Lowery is Marquette Golden Eagles’ future?
Golden Eagles fans thought Lowery previewed a future they can rally behind.
Zaide Lowery is far and away the biggest bright spot over the last month. The team in general is trending down, but Lowery absolutely looks like a starter in 2025-26 #mubb

Amongst many other things, Zaide Lowery is a top tier explosive athlete and a willing cutter. More reps to get the timing synced up=guaranteed success https://t.co/EL7ulVA86v

Might be a crazy take, but Zaide Lowery will play in the NBA.

Zaide Lowery is so stinkin’ good.

Lowery’s game is finally getting recognized but to him, he always had that and his teammates are crucial for him to play the kind of game that he has.
“Just going in there and playing hard,” Lowery said. “Talking and having conversations with my teammates about just playing freely.”

“I kind of started off rough at the beginning of the year on offense. The last couple games that we’ve had, I’ve just been aggressive. Trying to assert myself for the team.”
Lowery will have a shot t show that his last game is not a fluke when they take on Providence on Tuesday.
