Marquette Golden Eagles Oso Ighodaro is a forward and can very well be heading to the 2024 NBA Draft. He was a senior this past season and so was point guard Tyler Kolek. Ighodaro this past season with Marquette averaged 13.4 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 2.9 APG, 1.3 BPG, and 1.1 SPG. He shot 57.6% from the field and did not take any threes. Ighodao is 6’11” and weighs 235 lbs.
Oso Ighodaro is hoping to make it to the next level and was a very good player in college for Marquette. He was named to the All Big-East Second Team in 2022-2023 and also in 2023-2024. Ighodaro’s defensive presence around the rim will be missed next season by head coach Shaka Smart and it will be tough for them to replace.
Marquette Golden Eagles Oso Ighodaro Is Projected To Be the 41st Pick In the 2024 NBA Draft By the Boston Celtics
NBADRAFT.net updated its NBA Mock Draft on March 27. They have Boston taking Marquette’s Ighodaro with the 41st pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. The Boston Celtics have two other picks in the 2024 NBA Draft and at the moment, it is set for the 30th overall selection and also the 51st overall selection. Boston can very well be on its way to winning an NBA Championship this season.
They have a good bench and would like to continue to add depth pieces as Brad Stevens is a very smart mind in the front office. On Sports Illustrated back on September 1, 2023, some of the scouting reports of Oso Ighodaro are as follows:
“A forward with good length, Ighodaro has the frame and skillset to make an immediate impact at the NBA level with another season of development. He has good footwork, is a smart player and plays within a defined role. A three year player, last season was really the one in which he popped. Playing alongside first-round pick Olivier-Maxence Prosper, he was able to compliment the team well. Ighodaro scored better than 11 points on 66% shooting in year three, while also dishing out 3.3 assists per game. The Marquette forward is a good decision maker for his size, and while he may not have the upside to be an offensive hub as a passer, he does have really good vision for his position. In fact, he notched a 19.1% assist rate last season which is incredible for a big.”
It will be interesting to see which NBA team would draft him even if it isn’t the Boston Celtics. Ighodaro could be a bench player in the NBA but he may have to play in the NBA G-League to get reps for himself.
