The Marquette Golden Eagles will be preparing to lose Kam Jones not only because he was a senior during the 2024-2025 season, but he is also going to probably be entering the 2025 NBA Draft. Some thought that Jones was going to enter the 2024 NBA Draft, but he came back.

For now, some have Jones as a late first-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. It remains to be seen how he will do during the NBA scouting combine and other stuff before the NBA Draft. Jones’s scoring no doubt is going to be missed big time next season.
Yahoo Sports Writer Kevin O’Connor Provides One Flaw For Marquette Golden Eagles Kam Jones Entering the 2025 NBA Draft

Yahoo.com NBA writer Kevin O’Connor provided a scouting report for the Golden Eagles star ahead of the 2025 NBA Draft. Jones played in 34 games last season for Marquette. He averaged 19.2 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 5.9 APG, and also shot 48.3% from the field. Jones is 6’5″ and weighs 200 lbs.
One of his strengths is his shot creation, but there may be some cause for concern for the Golden Eagles star at the next level. O’Connor mentioned that one his weaknesses is his free throw shooting. He said,
“Jones made only 67.1% of his free throws in four college seasons, and free throw shooting is historically a better predictor for future 3-point shooting success than college 3-point percentage. Could his lack of success at the line be a bad sign? Or perhaps, there’s a subtle mechanical flaw that the right coach can solve to have his free-throw numbers improve to match his seemingly good touch as a spot-up shooter, and on both floaters and layups.”
This is an interesting flaw because he did shoot 31.1% from three-point range this season, but it was the lowest three-point percentage he had during his collegiate career with Marquette. Jones shot 40.6% during his junior season, 36.0% during his sophomore season, and 39.2% during his freshman season.
It was a surprise to see his three-point shooting dip during his senior season. In order for Jones to be successful at the next level offensively, he will have to shoot a better percentage from the free throw line and also from three-point land. Jones has a chance to be a good role player in the NBA if he can polish his game. It remains to be seen which team will draft him and what his draft stock will be like also.
