Marquette Golden Eagles Players To Watch For Against the Creighton Blue Jays
Marquette last played against the Providence Friars on Tuesday. Four players scored in double figures for the Marquette Golden Eagles. Kam Jones recorded another double-double with 18 points and 10 assists. He also grabbed three rebounds. Jones has a chance to be the Big East Conference Player of the Year if he continues to be effective.
Stevie Mitchell scored 14 points, grabbed five rebounds, and recorded two assists. David Joplin scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds and Zaide Lowrey scored 11 points and also grabbed three rebounds. Head coach Shaka Smart has one of the deepest teams in the entire country.
This is the first time that the Golden Eagles will be facing the Blue Jays since conference play of last season. Marquette and Creighton split the two meetings with each other last season.
Players To Watch For On Creighton
Greg McDermott is the head coach of the Creighton Blue Jays. Ryan Kalkbrenner in the last game for Creighton scored 16 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and recorded one assist in the last game against the St. John’s Red Storm. Steven Ashworth scored 18 points, grabbed five rebounds, and recorded four assists in the last game for Creighton against St. John’s.
The Blue Jays appear to be a top-heavy team this season. Creighton is still a talented enough team that could beat Marquette if they have an off-night. However, the Marquette Golden Eagles should be able to hold them off in another Big East matchup.
