The Marquette Golden Eagles have not played in over a week and the same deal goes for the Providence Friars. They both will resume BIG East Conference play on Tuesday with tipoff at 5 p.m. CT on FS1.
This season, Marquette is 11-2 overall and they have a 2-0 record in conference play. As for Providence, they have a 7-6 overall record and a 1-1 record in conference play.
Marquette Golden Eagles Players To Watch For Against the Providence Friars
Marquette last played on 12/21 against the Xavier Musketeers. During that matchup, Marquette had four different players score in double figures. Kam Jones scored 20 points, grabbed four rebounds, and recorded eight assists in that game.
David Joplin scored 19 points, Stevie Mitchell scored 10, and Ben Gold added 11 points for the Golden Eagles. This season, Marquette is averaging 80.7 points per game as a team. Head coach Shaka Smart hopes his team can shake off the rust in the first game back.
Players To Watch For On Providence
In the last game for the Friars, they faced the St. John’s Red Storm. Bensley Joseph scored 17 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and recorded two assists. Jayden Pierre scored 16 points and Wesley Cardet Jr. added 10 points and grabbed five rebounds.
This season, they are averaging 70.5 points per game. The Friars are coached by Kim English. This is a game that the Marquette Golden Eagles should win on the road. However, Marquette lost on the road against Providence last year and there probably will be rust on both sides early in the game.
