Marquette basketball has produced quite a number of great talents. Kam Jones is still with the Golden Eagles but he’ll go down as among the program’s best in history once it’s all said and done for the high-scoring senior guard.
Jones was recently put on the spot in a challenge to pick who he thinks is the greatest player ever in the history of the Golden Eagles program. The names of Travis Diener, Butch Lee, Markus Howard, Steve Novak, Doc Rivers, Wesley Matthews, Jae Crowder, Bo Ellis, Jimmy Butler, and Tyler Kolek were brought up, and of those selections, Jones picked his former teammate as his choice for Marquette basketball’s GOAT.
“Yes sir, shout out to Team Money. Right now I think Tyler Kolick probably got that title, you know, the best player in Marquette. You know, shout out to my dog, it was great playing with you for them three years.”

Kam Jones saw Tyler Kolen’s greatness as a teammate with Marquette basketball
Jones may be a little biased with his pick since he played multiple years with Kolek during their time together with Marquette basketball. But there is no denying that Kolek was an incredible player for the Golden Eagles. In his three seasons with Marquette, he averaged 11.5 points and 7.2 assists through 99 games.
Jones and the Golden Eagles are having a great season themselves even after Kolek’s departure, as Marquette is 11-2 overall so far in the 2024-25 college basketball season.
