To say that the basketball world was stunned Saturday night following the breaking news of Luka Doncic’s trade to the Los Angeles Lakers would be a huge understatement. The news was as crushing to Mavs fans as it was shocking to everyone else. It simply came out of nowhere to rattle what was seemingly an ordinary Saturday night in the NBA.
Players, coaches, fans, and just about anyone were left confounded and, of course, having their own reactions to Luka Doncic’s trade to the Lakers in exchange mainly for Anthony Davis.
John Henson remembers trade amid Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis swap
Enter former Milwaukee Bucks big man John Henson, who recalled the moment he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers just after having surgery. That trade was not on the level of the Doncic-Davis swap but it also paints a picture of how abrupt things can be in the NBA when it comes to trades.
“No BS, once the Bucks traded me on the way from the surgeon to the game after 7 years. I only unpacked my bed, couch, TV and FIFA 19 in Cleveland. 😅,” Henson said in a post on X as a reaction as well to a post tweet by New Orleans Pelicans star CJ McCollum.
After several years with the Bucks, Henson was traded by Milwaukee to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2018, which came shortly after he went under the knife to address a wrist injury.
Selected in the first round (14th overall) of the 2012 NBA draft by the Bucks, Henson averaged 7.8 rebounds, 5.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks across at total of 405 regular season games with Milwaukee.
