There’s nothing like college basketball atmosphere and there’s nothing like having the best game of your life before you leave the university. That’s what Carter Gilmore experienced on the first day of February to that point that his coach Greg Gard wants it declared as his holiday.

The Wisconsin Badgers basketball team went down early against their hosts Northwestern Wildcats on Saturday but they remained gritty, led by the senior forward who scored career-high 15 points, all of them in the second half.
His scoring spree included three three point shots out of five attempts.
John Tonje remained as the team’s top point producer with his 27 in 38 minutes but Gilmore’s production stood out as they came at a time when the Wildcats have already built a huge lead in the second salvo, no thanks to Badgers’ slow first half start.
For his effort, Gard declared February 1 as the Carter Gilmore Day.
“Today will forever be enshrined as Carter Gilmore Day,” he said post game.

He also raved about Gilmore and how he embodies the true spirit of a Badger.
“Carter Gilmore, what a great example of why someone is a Wisconsin Badger. All you locals know his story, from walk-on to today. He’s come the long, hard way, and really proud of him that he’s persevered and continued to stay with it. When that happens, good things happen to people who really work hard and stay the course.”
Carter Gilmore reacts to career game
Gilmore agrees with his coach. He is a Badger through and through.
The 6’7 forward expressed excitement and satisfaction about his performance, which happened in front of people who came before him.
“We had a lot of former teammates here…All the guys come back. Just to see the amount of love that you really have, that’s why I play. I’m a true Wisconsin Badger, and all I want to do is make all the fans happy. I was lucky and glad I could do that today.”

Fans showered him with praises, with a number of memes created for him.

The crowed even shouted his name, which is surprising since it was a road game.
