LOVB Madison has been the hottest team in the league over the last month. After a bad start to the season, they went undefeated in March and put themselves in contention to earn the second overall seed and a quarterfinal bye in the Finals. Unfortunately, their quest for this came just short.
LOVB Madison forced a crucial match up against Houston

On Friday night, Madison defeated Salt Lake in four sets to set up a crucial Saturday night match up against Houston. On the line in that game was the right to earn the second overall seed and a first round bye in the Final tournament.
Sadly, Madison was unable to defeat Houston as they lost in straight sets 20-25, 19-25, and 21-25.
Miscues and the battle at the net

In this contest, Madison struggled to find rhythm at times. There were some uncharacteristic miscues and mix ups in communication that led to easy balls and points for Houston. Madison was also out-blocked at the net 13 to 2.
Despite not the best team performance, setter Lauren Carlini had a positive outlook following the contest.
“Of course you want to win and of course you want a bye, but it’s also good to be exposed a little bit and see what other teams are going to exploit. It’s going to be great to learn from this and come out even stronger.
I think we still have a good sense of momentum, our team is doing really good going into this last week of the season.”
-Lauren Carlini
The Final tournament will begin on Thursday, April 10. Madison will play that night, facing Omaha at 6:00 PM CT. If they win, their next game would come on Friday and then potentially again on Sunday.
