Shaquille O’Neal, the most dominant ever, said at one point that Giannis Antetokounmpo is the superman of his era. Lebron James hasn’t bestowed the Milwaukee Bucks star that title but he might have said something similar.

To the Los Angeles Lakers, the Greek Freak can be a dominant player if you put him in a game in the 1970s.
Many analysts and fans love doing it. Doing hypotheticals. Even James was subjected to that with some saying he would not be as great in the 90s or in the era of Michael Jordan.
The four-time champion hasn’t said anything to defend himself concerning this take but for Antetokounmpo, he set the record straight.
“You trying to tell me Giannis wouldn’t be able to play an NBA game in the ’70s? Giannis Antetokounmpo would have 250 points in a game in the ’70s,” he said.
LBJ made the statement during an appearance at the Pat McAfee show with the episode yet to be aired. The clip shared was just a teaser and basically has no context how they got to that point in the conversation.

Lebron on Pat McAfee:
“You trying to tell me Giannis wouldn’t be able to play an NBA game in the 70s? Giannis would have 250 points in a game in the 70s. 250!” 😂 pic.twitter.com/037PDTAQ0A

McAfee, a former NFL player now sports analysts, chuckled in the statement made by James who Antetokounmpo said he idolizes.
Criticisms of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s game
The closest and safest theory why Antetokounmpo’s name was brought up in the show is the current takes about his game. That he is a run and dunk man who has no skills.
Such take is rich given the fact that he has won two MVPs already and has been in the Top 5 of scoring since 2019.
This season, he is set to finish with a 30/10/5 season again after doing it thrice already in the last four years. Only five other players have done it so far.

Abdul Jabbar Antetokounmpo
If the Greek Freak gets transported to the 70s, who are the best players he will go up against? It’s none other another Bucks legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. There’s also Bob McAdoo who won the MVP in 1975 and became a champion twice, two-time champion Walt Frazier, and eight-time All-Star Bob Lanier.
