The Las Vegas Raiders provided a concerning update Thursday on the status of starting quarterly Jimmy Garoppolo. The Raiders were without Garoppolo in their loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4 due to a concussion he suffered in Week 3.
The Raiders are preparing to play the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football. The game will be pivotal for the 1-3 Raiders to stay in the playoff chase in the early season.
But they could have to ask rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell to step in again. (Davante Adams might like that.)
Las Vegas Raiders: Jimmy Garoppolo remains in concussion protocol
According to a report by NFL.com, Garoppolo is still in the concussion protocol Thursday. Head coach Josh McDaniels said Garoppolo will practice Thursday.

Garoppolo returned to practice last week following the brain injury. However, Garoppolo did not pass all of the phases of the concussion protocol before the Chargers game and could not play. That could happen this week against the Packers.
If he cannot play, the Packers would see O’Connell under center in Week 5. The Raiders fourth-round pick went 24/39 passing for 238 yards and one interception in the 24-17 loss to the Chargers.
O’Connell might be Garoppolo’s replacement in the future, but he’s not the Raiders’ best chance to beat the Packers Monday night. The Packers would catch a huge break in Week 5 if Garoppolo cannot pass the concussion protocol for the game.
