Milwaukee Bucks power forward Giannis Antetokounmpo may have had a rocky start with his team early on this season, but they have since bounced back and now have made their way to the NBA Cup Finals. While everyone recognizes the team effort as well as the coaching of Doc Rivers, there is no denying that Antetokounmpo has played a critical role in elevating the Bucks to a chance for the coveted NBA Cup.
Sportskeeda gave three reasons as to why Giannis Antetokounmpo is having the time of his life and is in his “greatest NBA season.”
For one, Giannis is currently the top scorer in the league this season, with 32.7 points per game. His highest score this season was for a game against the Detroit Pistons, where he amassed 59 points for the Bucks.

Secondly, he has reminded everyone why he was once a Defensive Player of The Year. He stands fifth in the league for average rebounds per game at 11.5, and third in defensive rebounds at 9.5 per game.
Thirdly, Giannis Antetokounmpo once again elevated the Bucks by bringing them to the NBA Cup finals, and himself running as a strong candidate for MVP. He once ended the 50-year dream of the Bucks for a championship in 2021, their second in half a decade.
Giannis Antetokounmpo vs OKC Thunder Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: A Comparison By The Numbers
With the Bucks and the Thunder competing for the NBA Cup Finals, two players have emerged as apparent MVPs—Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Bucks, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (SGA) of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

While the Bucks had a rocky start to the season, even suffering from a long losing streak, the Greek Freak became an instrumental factor for the team to bounce back. Giannis leads the league as the top average scorer this season, with 32.7 points per game. He ranks 5th in the league for average rebounds, with 11.5 per game.

On the other hand, the OKC Thunder had always been a strong team this season, spending most of the time at the #1 spot in the Western Conference. They started the season strong with 7-1, and continued to the 20-5 that they are right now.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is second in the league when it comes to average score, with 31.4 points per game. He averages 6.2 rebounds and shoots field goals at 50.4% efficiency.
Both Giannis Antetokounmpo and SGA are known for their defensive skills, and they both have played key roles in bringing their teams to the NBA Cup Finals.
