The Indiana Hoosiers have not been performing to expectations this season in college basketball. On Tuesday night when they went on the road against the Wisconsin Badgers, Indiana lost by a final score of 76-64.

The game was not as close as the final score indicated. The Badgers at one point in the first half had a 29-8 lead over the Hoosiers. It goes to show that Greg Gard had his guys ready to play in the game and that Mike Woodson did not.

With Indiana having a 14-9 record and a 5-7 record in conference play this season, there is a chance that they will miss the NCAA Tournament again this season. On Thursday, it was reported by ESPN:
“Men’s basketball coach Mike Woodson is not expected to return to Indiana next season, sources told ESPN on Thursday.
Woodson, 66, is expected to coach the rest of the year, sources said, but he and the Hoosiers are in discussions about the coach’s wishes to step away after this season. The details of the exit are being discussed.
The Hoosiers are heading toward their second consecutive season without an NCAA tournament appearance, losing four straight games and six of their past seven.”
This doesn’t seem to be an exact accident that this news was released after the Wisconsin Badgers beat them down badly on Tuesday. The Indiana Hoosiers fanbase has been fed up with Mike Woodson all season long.

Blame the AD. Should’ve hired Dusty May when you had the opportunity.

Mike Woodson has had a solid run at Indiana, but it seems like the program could see a major shift soon. His experience will be tough to replace.

If this is truly the final stretch for Woodson, Indiana will need a strong transition plan. His leadership shaped the team, and his absence will be felt.

is this big news though?

There will be some interesting names for the Hoosiers opening potentially. Would Brad Stevens want to leave the Boston Celtics front office to coach the Hoosiers? This is one name to watch for because he coached the Butler Bulldogs in 2010 and 2011 when they went to back-to-back National Championship Games.
The Indiana Hoosiers are not at the level as the Wisconsin Badgers or other BIG10 programs this college basketball season. As Wisconsin heads to another tournament this season, Indiana will have another empty feeling of being out of the big dance come March also.
