One of the biggest questions the Green Bay Packers have faced all season long is figuring out a contract extension for right tackle Zach Tom. While he has not made any Pro Bowls or All-Pro teams, he is widely regarded to be one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL by his peers and opposing coaches and scouts. 2025 is the final year of his rookie contract, and if he were to hit free agency, he would quickly be scooped up by another franchise.
But that is not going to happen.
On Monday afternoon, it was reported that Tom and the Packers have reached an agreement on an historic contract extension.
The Green Bay Packers Sign Zach Tom to Historic Contract Extension

Not long ago, multiple NFL insiders reported that the Packers and Tom had reached a contract extension agreement that will keep him in Green Bay through the 2029 season.
What is more, the Packers, as they are known to do, spiced up the deal by giving Tom, their 2022 fourth round pick, an historic signing bonus:
The #Packers and OT Zach Tom have agreed to terms on a historic four-year, $88 million contract extension with a max value of $92 million, sources tell The Insiders.

As one can see from the post above, Tom and the Packers are in agreement on a four-year $88 million contract extension that can be worth as much as $92 million if he hits all the escalators. Additionally, Tom’s $30.2 million signing bonus is the largest for an offensive lineman in NFL history.
As mentioned, Tom is widely considered to be one of the best right tackles in the NFL. He has been entrenched as Green Bay’s right tackle for years, but he has the ability to play all five positions on the offensive line.
Had Elgton Jenkins, a two-time Pro Bowl left guard, not been moved to center this offseason, Tom may have been the one to take over that position after Josh Myers was allowed to walk in free agency.
But, as it is, Tom is the right tackle, and based on this salary, he will remain there for a long time.
