The Green Bay Packers are hoping a young roster will be the key to success in 2023. Their roster has an average age of 25.5 years old, which is the youngest in the league. Despite being young, this team is loaded with talent, and the Packers think they can still dominate the NFC North, despite losing Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers’ successor, Jordan Love, has been impressive, and people are starting to take notice. Every facet of this team has depth, and the Packers have done what they do best for years: develop players. But will this team of youngsters shine in 2023?
The Packers, Rams and Colts are the NFL’s three youngest teams this season.

Love for the Youngster
It all starts with Jordan Love’s ability to lead the offense. He is only 24 years old and has big shoes to fill, considering the Packers have had two starting quarterbacks in the last 25+ years. He needs to carry that success and confidence over to when the games matter the most. His talent is undeniable, and he is highly underrated as a passer. Love needs to step up and remain confident. If he can remain calm and not make senseless errors, he will have a solid year. It would be amazing to see Love lead the Packers to a better season than the Jets.
Packers Lightning and Thunder
Starting running back Aaron Jones, 28, will need to be a stud out of the backfield this year. Last year he was decent, but I would not be surprised to see AJ ‘Quadzilla’ Dillon, 25, outperforming him this year. Either way, Jones and Dillon are a dynamic duo that complements each other very nicely. Jones provides the speed, while Dillon has the power. If the offensive coordinator utilizes them correctly, this could be one of the best backfields in the league.
Packers Raving About the Receivers
Christian Watson, 24, and Romeo Doubs, 23, will spearhead this extremely young, talented, inexperienced receiving corps. Watson had a decent rookie year, but he had issues dropping very catchable balls. Doubs came out of nowhere and proved he was a Packers-esque talent. If they can stay healthy, look for them to have a productive season in 2023.
Samori Touri is only 25 but has elite speed and the hands to match. Rookie, Jayden Reed, 23, is a talented prospect that I think will be a phenomenal slot receiver, something the Packers need depth at. Last, but certainly not least, is Malik Heath, another 23-year-old rookie, who shined in the preseason and earned a spot on the 53-man roster.
Stout Lines
Both the offensive and defensive lines are stacked with top-tier talent. Veteran David Bahktiari, 31, brings experience and is one of the best tackles in the game if he can stay healthy. Elgton Jenkins, 27, is another elite lineman who will help keep Love upright and clean. The left side of this o-line is scary good. Josh Myers, 25, has been solid at the center position, while Jon Runyan, 26, and Zach Tom, 24, solidify the right side of the line. This offensive line is hands down, one of the best in the league.
The defensive line starts with veteran Kenny Clark, 27, who has been a force to be reckoned with in Green Bay. At nose tackle, T.J. Slaton, 25, will be a dominant force. At 6’4″ and weighing 330 lbs., he has been compared to Packers legend Gilbert Brown, who was an unstoppable force. Devonte Wyatt, 25, rounds out this robust defensive line. Wyatt, like Clark, possesses decent speed and will have a solid year for the Pack.
These two units are the heart and soul of this team, and they will have a huge part in this team’s success this season. They are big, powerful, talented, and scary fast.
Legion of Linebackers
I know I keep saying it, but this unit will be a force to be reckoned with and is extremely good. Led by Preston Smith, 30, will be looking to return the player he was a few seasons ago as a sack machine. De’Vondre Campbell, who is also 30, will be looking to replicate last year’s success, while Rashan Gary, 25, is looking to bounce back after injuries took him out last season. Former Georgia Bulldog, Quay Walker, 23, is freaky fast and is poised for a breakout season in 2023.
This linebacker group is severely overlooked and underrated. They have the size, speed, and talent to wreak havoc on opposing quarterbacks, and will prove they are a force to be reckoned with.
Solid Secondary
Led by one of the best corners in the league, Jaire Alexander, 26, will be able to neutralize any team’s top wide receiver. He has been a stud for years, and 2023 will be no different. Rasul Douglas, 29, is underrated as a pass defender and someone I see shining this year opposite Alexander. He has put together a few solid seasons, and this season will be another one. Keisean Nixon, 26, and Rudy Ford, 28, are two players that need to prove themselves and are extremely talented. Darnell Savage, 26, is looking to bounce back after a season to forget last season. He has been impressive in training camp and has shown great improvements.
These guys are probably the weakest part of the team but have the talent to get the job done. I see them exceeding expectations and having a much better season this year.
Young and Hungry
This Packers roster is stout and will be a playoff team easily. We will learn a lot about this team in week one as they face their rival, the Chicago Bears. It will be interesting to see if this defense can slow down Justin Fields, and start the season 1-0. Ultimately, this squad could win 11-12 games and the NFC North in 2023.
