The Green Bay Packers make their way into the Week 8 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Packers are on a three-game winning streak, and they have to come out and take care of business against a 2-5 Jaguars team.
The Jaguars have not had the best season so far, but they have given the Green Bay a fight every time they’ve played the Packers. Some of that is the Packers not playing their best. They cannot afford a bad performance this week.
Packers offense and defense playing well on both sides
The Packers have been rolling on offense this year, averaging 26.6 points per game, which ranks 7th in the league. Packers quarterback Jordan Love has thrown for 15 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Love has been explosive all year despite slinging the football to the other team.
One of the largest differences this season is with Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley. Green Bay ranked 1st in takeaways and held Texans quarterback CJ Stroud to only 86 yards passing in the 24-22 victory.
Jaguars’ defensive statistical rankings
The Jaguars rank dead last in the NFL in blitz percentage at 16.1 percent. Another big-time spot for Packers offensive tackles Rasheed Walker and Zach Tom because the Jags rely so heavily on the two edge rushers winning against the pass. The Jaguars defense has been fairly abysmal this year. They are 27th in yards per game and 29th in yards per play. Their strong suit on defense is actually their run defense, which is 6th with 102.6 yards allowed. The Packers as an offensive unit
The Green Bay Packers can beat anybody in so many different ways from the Packers wide receiver core. Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed, the most productive wide receiver for the team, had two catches for 10 yards against the Cardinals and six receptions for 28 yards against the Texans. They have Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs for plays to be made, even if one receiver gets shut down.
The Packers build momentum but just can’t take these Jags lightly. Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence can turn it on, and they have weapons. Jaguars’ defensive ends Travon Walker and Josh Hines-Allen can be menaces off the edge; however, Jordan Love should be able to absolutely dice their secondary with a little time to throw.
