One of the biggest surprises of the 2024 NFL offseason was the Green Bay Packers making not one, but two high-profile free agent signings. Of course, these were running back Josh Jacobs and safety Xavier McKinney. Both made the Pro Bowl in their first season with Green Bay. For Jacobs, it was his third Pro Bowl selection while it was the first for McKinney.
And on Friday, McKinney had another first: being named First Team All-Pro by the Associated Press.
In 17 games for the Packers this season, McKinney had eight interceptions, 11 passes defended, a fumble recovery, and 88 total tackles.
Afterwards, the rising star in Green Bay took to social media to air out some frustrations.
Green Bay Packers Safety Xavier McKinney Calls Out a Mystery Player on Social Media
One might not know it by the way he carries himself in press conferences, but it seems that McKinney can hold a grudge with the best of them. The former New York Giants star posted the following message on X (formerly Twitter):

The big question every fan had after seeing the post was, “Who is he talking about?”

Many assumed that he was referencing Detroit Lions safety Kerby Joseph, whose dirty style of play led his peers to leave him out of the Pro Bowl even though he was the leading vote-getter at the position among fans. Joseph and McKinney also exchanged words via the media earlier in the season.
However, it seems that his post may have been directed at one of his former teammates with the Giants.
Did Green Bay Packers Safety Xavier McKinney Call Out Kayvon Thibodeaux?
On Instagram, a different social media platform, McKinney posted the following message:
“To think he ever thought he was better than me & for them to try to push that. Somebody tell buddy to hop off the melo podcast gossiping & lock back in on his craft.”
This seems to rule out Joseph as the target of McKinney’s ire. However, one of his former teammates in New York, Kayvon Thibodeaux was a guest on former NBA star Carmelo Anothony’s podcast nearly a full year ago.

During his appearance on Melo’s podcast, Thibodeaux talks about how defensive linemen like him are the most valuable defensive players. He also talked about how safeties, like McKinney (though he did not name him) have a much easier time in the NFL than players at his position.
Whether or not McKinney’s message was intended for his former Giants teammate is unknown, but it sure does make sense as he is the only one connected to McKinney to have appeared on that podcast.
