Former Green Bay Packers wide receiver James Jones has given his thoughts on the controversial detainment of Miami Dolphins star wideout Tyreek Hill last Sunday.
On FOX Sports 1’s “The Facility,” Jones expressed his perspective on the issue, saying that Hill’s incident with the police was just another reason why “black people do not feel safe around cops.”

“That is what really strikes a chord to me. Because we don’t want to call them. We don’t want to be in certain situations with them,” continued Jomes, who spent eight of his nine seasons in the NFL with the Packers.
“I talk to my kids, you know what I tell ‘em. If you get into any situation, you’re with your friends or whatever, get to some light, get around some people, if there are cops around. If there are cops around, you’re supposed to be safe and they’re supposed to protect you, but make sure you’re around some people so people can see what’s going on if they want to act up.”

In the footage, Hill was seen being aggressively taken out of his car and put on the ground while being handcuffed. That happened after Hill appeared to refuse an officer’s request to roll the car’s window down completely.
When Hill was on the sidewalk, an officer put him on the ground again, as Hill was trying to explain that he just had surgery on his knee.
Hill was eventually let go by the police and even managed to show up for Week 1’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars where he recorded 130 receiving yards and a touchdown on seven catches and 12 targets to help Miami complete a come-from-behind 20-17 victory at home.
