The Green Bay Packers have been drafting well over the past couple of years. Green Bay is one of the youngest teams in the NFL.
The Packers in the 2024 NFL Draft, selected Texas A&M Aggies linebacker Edgerrin Cooper in the second round with the 45th overall pick. Cooper was one of the best defensive players on Green Bay’s roster during the 2024 NFL season.
Pro Football Network Has the Green Bay Packers Selecting Texas A&M Aggies Pass Rusher Shemar Stewart With the 23rd Overall Pick In the 2025 NFL Draft
Pro Football Network writer Alan Goldsher created his latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft. In his latest mock draft, he has the Green Bay Packers selecting Texas A&M Aggies edge rusher Shemar Stewart with that selection. Goldsher compared Stewart to Keion White. Alan Goldsher said:
“The Pack is almost there, but picking at 25 likely won’t get them a player who can help them sneak past scary division-mates Detroit and Minnesota. Shemar Stewart could have enough juice to get plenty of reps and harass Jared Goff and Sam Darnold (or J.J. McCarthy).
2024 Fun Fact: Stewart tallied 31 tackles and 1.5 sacks.”
Stewart is 6’6″ and weighs 290 lbs. Shemar Stewart would be a good piece for this Green Bay Packers defense because Rashan Gary and Kenny Clark need some help on the defensive line.
Scouting Report
NFLdraftbuzz.com gave a scouting report for Texas A&M Aggies edge rusher Shemar Stewart. His strengths are:
“Prototype build for the position with ideal length and a powerful frame, creating mismatches against most offensive tackles, explosive get-off at the snap, consistently beating blockers to the punch and penetrating the backfield, and scheme-versatile defender with the ability to play multiple techniques along the defensive front.”
“Anchor in run defense needs bolstering, occasionally getting displaced by double teams or down blocks and finishing ability as a tackler is inconsistent, leading to missed opportunities in the backfield.”
It seems as if drafting Shemar Stewart would be a risk for the Green Bay Packers. Stewart had some injuries during the 2024 college football season with the Texas A&M Aggies. Green Bay can not be drafting injury-riddled players. Even though Shemar Stewart is a position of need, the Packers should look elsewhere for defensive line help in the 2025 NFL Draft.
