The Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles will face each other on Sunday, January 12 with kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m. CT on FOX. Green Bay is the seventh seed for the second consecutive season and Philadelphia is the number two seed.
The Packers finished the regular season with an 11-6 record and the Eagles finished with a 14-3 record. Philadelphia won the NFC East once again this season. Green Bay wants to pull off an upset on the road this weekend.
Green Bay Packers And Philadelphia Eagles Shocking Prediction For Wild Card Weekend
Will Brinson of CBS Sports made predictions for the upcoming wild-card round. One of the top matchups of the weekend will be the Packers and the Eagles. This is not the first time that Green Bay and Philadelphia will be facing each other in the postseason.
Brinson thinks that the Green Bay Packers will pull off the upset this weekend against the Philadelphia Eagles and win by a final score of 24-21. Will Brinson said about this upcoming matchup:
“Tough, tough matchup for Jordan Love and Co. This isn’t squaring off against the Cowboys in a fairly friendly environment like last year. Philly is well rested after sitting starters, but you can also make the case Jalen Hurts is a little TOO fresh. The Packers just lost Christian Watson for the rest of the playoffs (and possibly the start of next year) with a torn ACL, which limits their explosiveness down the field. The Eagles defense was stout throughout 2024, giving up 300 total yards or more just three times following their Week 5 bye. The Packers will have to run well and Love will have to be at his absolute best in order to win this game, with the Packers defense somehow finding a way to neutralize Saquon Barkley and this lethal run game. Love doesn’t enter this game nearly as hot as he did the playoffs last year, but he still hasn’t thrown a pick since before Thanksgiving and I tend to trust that he could show up and shred a secondary in the postseason, mostly because I’ve seen it happen before. I’m going out on a limb and taking the upset and await the calls from Philly radio to point out that I’m a huge Eagles hater. This should be a really fun game.”
One of the biggest questions about the Philadelphia Eagles against the Green Bay Packers will be how effective can quarterback Jalen Hurts be coming off the concussion? He did practice on Wednesday, but Hurts has not played since December 22 against the Washington Commanders.
Packers Offense
For Green Bay to pull off the upset against Philadelphia, they are going to need to run the football effectively with Josh Jacobs. Another player who will have to be involved in the passing game is tight end Tucker Kraft. With Christian Watson out due to injury, they are good to need to shorten the game.
The Packers need to keep Saquon Barkley and the Eagles’ high-powered offense on the sidelines. Green Bay has the tools to pull off the upset, but they will need to be sharp early. The Philadelphia Eagles won the Week 1 matchup in Brazil, but things are different this time around.
