The Green Bay Packers will make tough decisions come summertime, as they will have to hand out extensions to their key players to maintain their current core. Because of their financial constraints, the Green Bay Packers might have to put certain players on the NFL trade block, even if it’s against their will.

Pro Football Focus’ Bradley Locker recently listed Quay Walker as Green Bay’s trade candidate in the 2025 offseason since Edgerrin Cooper is looking like a future star on the defensive end.

“After being a touted linebacker intended to shore up the middle of Green Bay’s defense, Walker has underperformed in his three seasons as a Packer,” Locker wrote in his column. “He hasn’t exceeded a 58.5 PFF overall grade in any of his three pro seasons. Even though he’s improved as a tackler, he remains a liability in coverage, allowing catches on 78.8% of targets this season to go along with 9.1 yards per reception.”

“Green Bay could elect to keep Walker on a prove-it final season, assuming his fifth-year option gets declined. It also wouldn’t be surprising to see general manager Brian Gutekunst cut his losses and trade Walker,” he concluded.

Quay Walker may return for the Green Bay Packers in the playoffs

Quay Walker was a limited participant in last Wednesday’s practice. The Green Bay Packers linebacker has missed the final three games of the regular season due to an ankle injury he sustained against the Seattle Seahawks.

The former Georgia Bulldog is in the final year of his four-year, $13.8 million rookie contract. This year, Walker tallied 72 solo tackles, nine of which were for a loss, and 2.5 sacks in 13 regular season appearances.
