The Green Bay Packers‘ offensive line unit is going to be one of the biggest question marks entering the 2024 season. It was one of the weaknesses of this offense a season ago. They have all of the OTAs and training camp to figure out who is going to be starting on the offensive line.
David Bakhtiari had a season-ending injury at left tackle last season. The offensive line has not been the same since he left the team. Bakhtiari had great leadership and was a total rock at that position. With OTAs being available to the media on Tuesday, there were some interesting developments with the offensive line.
Green Bay Packers First-Round Selection Jordan Morgan Was Not With the Starting Unit On the Offensive Line During OTAs
Green Bay first-round pick Jordan Morgan was selected 25th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft from Arizona. A lot of people found that an interesting selection for the Packers. General manager Brian Gutekunst could have whiffed on this selection, but give it time. There were also many defensive backs available with this selection as well.
According to Green Bay Packers USA Today beat writer Ryan Wood, the Packers offensive line unit during OTAs on Tuesday was Rasheed Walker at left tackle, Elgton Jenkins at left guard, Josh Myers at center, Sean Rhyan at right guard, and Andre Dillard at right tackle.
Zach Tom was present at OTAs but did not practice. Tom is projected to be one of the starters on the offensive line this season. Jordan Morgan not being on the starting offensive line unit for now could be a problem for the Green Bay Packers.
Morgan should be competing with Rasheed Walker for the starting left tackle job in training camp. If throughout the summer Jordan Morgan can not beat out Walker, it is going to be an alarm for the organization, but his development is also not going to happen overnight.
The left tackle position will be the main position that is focused on throughout training camp. We will see how the battle between Rasheed Walker and Jordan Morgan goes. Morgan is going to have a lot of work to do in order to win the starting job.
It is important for the Packers to get the offensive line position right because they need quarterback Jordan Love to have time to throw. They also need running gaps to be able to run the football.
