At this point in time, the Dallas Cowboys still haven’t signed wide receiver CeeDee Lamb to a new contract or traded him to another team. In the event they go for the latter, the Green Bay Packers may come in and add him to the Jordan Love-led roster.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been vocal about the ongoing contract negotiations with Lamb. He acknowledged that the team is working conscientiously to get something done regarding Lamb’s new deal.
The negotiations between the Cowboys and Lamb have been closely followed, with reports suggesting a narrow gap between the two sides. Jones revealed that the team has offered Lamb a contract worth $33 million per year, while the player is seeking $35 million annually.
Despite the progress, Jones emphasized that there is no sense of urgency to get the deal done immediately. He stated that he does not want to be misconstrued regarding the situation, as both the team and Lamb are eager to continue their partnership.
Green Bay Packers Acquire Dallas Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb in Intriguing Trade Idea
In order to prove the the Packers’ success last season wasn’t a fluke and that Love can carry his team to the Super Bowl, the front office will have to add more talent to the lineup. In this case, a hypothetical trade idea by Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay involving Lamb, Christian Watson, and a pair of draft picks may make sense for Green Bay.
“If the three-time Pro Bowler does demand a trade, the Green Bay Packers should come calling. Jordan Love has proved his status as a franchise quarterback and the team shouldn’t hesitate to go all-in by pairing him with a generational pass-catcher in Lamb.
While the Packers have no shortage of talented wide receivers, a true No. 1 has yet to emerge among a group that includes Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks. Green Bay can offer up at least one of these up-and-comers in a package for Lamb, helping clear a positional logjam in the process,” Kay wrote.
The Cowboys’ decision to wait until closer to the start of the regular season to finalize Lamb’s contract has drawn some criticism. By not having the deal in place before training camp, Lamb may not be as prepared as he could have been. However, Jones seems content with the team’s approach, as it has kept the Cowboys in the headlines during the preseason.
The resolution of the Lamb contract saga will be closely watched, as it could have significant implications for the Cowboys’ offense and their pursuit of success in the upcoming season. If things go south in Dallas, the Packers may swoop in and make their roster stronger by trading for a player of Lamb’s talent next season.
