Sunday will be the first time where the Green Bay Packers will be facing Aaron Jones in a Minnesota Vikings uniform. Jones was released by the Packers this offseason when they signed Josh Jacobs in free agency.
Many fans were looking forward to the possibility of having a running back tandem of Jacobs and Jones. Instead, general manager Brian Gutekunst didn’t want to keep him and Jones decided to sign with the Vikings on a one-year deal in the offseason.
Minnesota Vikings Running Back Aaron Jones Makes Stunning Announcement Ahead of the Green Bay Packers Matchup
The Vikings are off to a 3-0 start to the 2024 season and the Packers are off to a 2-1 start this season. Aaron Jones has been a part of some very good Green Bay teams in the past. He was on the team that went to the NFC Divisional Round a season ago before losing in the final minute against the San Francisco 49ers.
Ahead of the Green Bay Packers matchup, Jones said on the Vikings team website:
“I can’t quite put my finger on what it is. It’s different. Because I’ve been a part of some good teams, but this is a special team. After the first game, just the vibe in New York, I was like, ‘Mom, I don’t know what it is, but this was no stress, it was just fun.’ I don’t know what it is, I don’t know if it’s the guys, what it is … but it’s special, and I love it.”
This is a very interesting quote because Jones was beloved by the Packers fanbase. Does he think that this Minnesota Vikings team has a chance to go to the Super Bowl this season? That remains to be seen because they are one of the biggest surprises in the NFL to start the 2024 season.
Josh Jacobs Has Been Good For the Packers
Green Bay’s defense will be motivated to slow down Aaron Jones on Sunday. However, Josh Jacobs has been just fine this season in the backfield. He has rushed for 278 yards on 62 carries and zero touchdowns, along with averaging 4,5 yards per carry.
Jones this season with the Vikings has rushed for 228 yards on 42 carries and one touchdown, along with averaging 5.4 yards per carry. The running backs have worked out well for both teams so far this season.
