Former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy was previously on the radar of the Chicago Bears for their opening. In fact, they even asked the Dallas Cowboys for permission to interview him before his contracted expired last week, a request that owner Jerry Jones denied.
Despite denying Chicago’s request, Dallas allowed his contract to expire anyway and announced that they were going to move on from him.
Once he hit the open market, McCarthy was almost immediately scheduled for an in-person interview, which was thought to be significant because the Bears had connected all their other interviews virtually.
However, despite all the pomp, the former Packers head coach was not hired for the position.
The Chicago Bears Snub Former Green Bay Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy in Favor of Ben Johnson
Just a little while ago, it was reported that the Bears have hired [now former] Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson to be their next head coach:

The Lions, fresh off of their Divisional Round loss in the NFL Playoffs are now going to be on the hunt for a new offensive coordinator. Additionally, their defensive coordinator, Aaron Glenn, is interviewing for several head coaching jobs, including one with a team that is also interested in McCarthy.
The New Orleans Saints Want to Interview former Green Bay Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy
While he has missed out on the Bears head coaching position, McCarthy still has options. According to Nick Underhill of the New Orleans Football Network, the Saints are scheduling an interview with the former Packers and Cowboys head coach:
The Saints are setting up an in-person interview with Mike McCarthy, per source. Logistics are still being set. Weather and all that has to be worked around, but goal is this week.

The weather in question is the surprising amount of snow that Louisiana is experiencing this week.
As mentioned, Glenn is also expected to interview for the New Orleans head coaching job. However, he has also set up an interview with the New York Jets, and many feel he is the favorite to land that particular job.
If he does, one of his first decisions will be what to do with former Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
