The Green Bay Packers still have a lot of season left in 2023. That is not stopping people from putting out a mock draft for every team. While the draft position may change, the needs of the team are known at this point in the season. As we hit the midseason point, there is a consensus position that every mock draft gives to the Packers.
Green Bay Packers Midseason Mock Draft: Offensive Line Incoming
According to NFL Mock Draft Database, over 50% of the mock drafts have the Packers taking an offensive tackle with their first-round pick. The most popular pick is Notre Dame offensive tackle Joe Alt who appears in 32.4% of the mock drafts to Green Bay. Other tackles receiving a large piece of the pie are Olumuyiwa Fashanu and JC Laytham. With David Bakhtiari as a likely cut candidate due to salary cap savings and health, the Packers need their left tackle of the future. These mock drafts have the Packers getting that player in the first round.
Other Picks
Outside of the offensive tackles, it is a grab bag of players. Some have the Packers targeting Marvin Harrison Jr. out of Ohio State. Others have them thinking defense again, especially at the corner position with Eric Stokes still recovering from injury and the Rasul Douglas trade. Some even have the Packers getting aggressive and trading up to get Drake Maye or Caleb Williams. While I doubt the last thing will happen, this part of the season has every option on the table.
More than likely, a Packers mock draft of the future will continue to see an offensive tackle being taken by the team. The position is too important for whoever is under center for the team in 2024.
