The Green Bay Packers are hopeful that tight end Luke Musgrave will have a breakout season in the NFL in his third year in the league.
The Packers have been patient with him through his first two seasons in the pros, especially since he dealt with injuries that held him to only 18 games played out of 34 possible regular-season contests.
But the former second-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft will need to start showing big signs of life downfield in 2025. Otherwise, he might have trouble securing a second contract with the Packers.

During the Packers’ seventh practice of training camp on Thursday at Nitschke Field, Musgrave turned heads with some great plays, including one where he pulled down an improbable reception off a pass from quarterback Jordan Love. The catch was as sensational as the Love’s pass. Either way, Musgrave garnered the admiration of defensive back Xavier McKinney.
Via Mike Spofford, Packers.com senior editor:
Running a deep corner route, Musgrave was bracketed by cornerback Carrington Valentine in front and safety Xavier McKinney behind, and Love fit the ball into the tightest of windows along the boundary, allowing Musgrave to get both hands on the ball and drag his feet in bounds.
As McKinney came back onto the field from the sideline, he could be heard saying, “Good-ass catch,” but Musgrave didn’t want that much credit.
So far in his NFL career, the former Oregon State Beavers star tight end has 397 receiving yards and a touchdown on 41 receptions.
