Green Bay Packers tight end Luke Musgrave entered the 2024 NFL season as the number one tight end on the depth chart. Musgrave suffered an injury in 2024 that sidelined him for most of the season.

Because of his injury, it led to Tucker Kraft taking on the number one tight end role. Kraft excelled in that role for Green Bay. Because of it, Kraft will most likely be getting a contract extension in the future from Green Bay. As for Musgrave, he will be the second tight end on Green Bay’s depth chart entering the 2025 NFL season. He will be entering his third NFL season and will need to stay healthy in order to produce on the field.

Matt Schneidman of the Athletic listed seven different Green Bay players who are entering pivotal seasons entering 2025. One of the players who he listed on the roster that will need to perform is Musgrave. Schneidman said,

“Musgrave’s rocky first two years are more due to a lacerated kidney and ankle surgery than his lack of skill. Nonetheless, he hasn’t been the dynamic field-stretcher we thought he would be when he got off to a roaring start in summer 2023 as a second-round rookie. There’s nothing Musgrave can do to unseat fellow 2023 draft pick Tucker Kraft as the feature tight end, but the emergence of another versatile tight end who can make plays down the field would do wonders for Green Bay’s offense.

“He’s been working his tail off and he’s been doing a great job getting back,” tight ends coach John Dunn said of Musgrave. “He’s had a couple setbacks during the season due to no fault of his own, but it’ll be fun to see … the more he can do, the more we will do, so I think it’ll be fun having those guys out there together.””

It would be a bonus for the Packers if Musgrave and Kraft both produced at the tight end position this season. During the 2024 season, Musgrave only caught seven passes for 45 yards receiving and zero touchdowns. He also averaged 6.4 yards per catch and was targeted 10 times.

He was a second-round pick (42nd overall) in the 2023 NFL Draft from the Oregon State Beavers. Musgrave was drafted ahead of Kraft. Kraft has proven to be the better tight end because of staying healthy on the field and having more of an edge to his game. However, Musgrave is talented and will be able to produce in this offense if he does stay healthy for the 2025 NFL season.
