The Green Bay Packers have been named as one of the potential destinations for star defensive end Myles Garrett, who recently requested a trade out of the Cleveland Browns.
The fans have been urging general manager Brian Gutekunst and the rest of the front office to make the big-splash acquisition of the former NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Among them is former Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Mark Tauscher, who was part of the team’s last Super Bowl-winning squad in 2010.
“The Packers have an opportunity to make the big splash and I think they should go and do it,” Tauscher said on his radio show Wilde and Tausch, via ESPN Milwaukee.
“Myles Garrett is him. You add Myles Garrett without giving up a ton? I don’t know,” he added.
Why going for Myles Garrett is a no-brainer for the Green Bay Packers
As Mark Tauscher mentioned, the Green Bay Packers should go after Myles Garrett because of everything he brings to the table. The six-time Pro Bowler is in prime at 29 years old, and he will instantly elevate Green Bay’s improving defense under Jeff Hafley.
With him at the line, Edgerrin Cooper at linebacker, and Xavier McKinney in the secondary, opposing teams will find it difficult to score against Green Bay.
Since being selected no. 1 by the Cleveland Browns in the 2017 NFL Draft, Garrett has recorded 102.5 sacks, only second to former Wisconsin Badgers star TJ Watt. He’s had double-digit sacks in each of the last seven seasons and posted career-highs with 16 in 2021 and 2022.
