One of the turning points in Green Bay Packers history was when they signed Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive end Reggie White in free agency. Heading into the 1993 NFL season, White was the biggest free agent on the market and Green Bay, well, was not exactly a premier destination.
By signing White, Packers general manager Ron Wolf altered the trajectory of the franchise. In six seasons in Green Bay, the Hall of Fame pass rusher made six Pro Bowls, was named First Team All-Pro twice, and won the 1998 Defensive Player of the Year Award.
For their part, the Packers made it to two Super Bowls, winning Super Bowl XXXI for their first NFL title in nearly three decades. While White was not the singular factor that changed Green Bay’s fortunes, he was a big part of it.
And now, some fans think Brian Gutekunst has the opportunity to make a similar move.
Green Bay Packers Fans Want Brian Gutekunst to Trade for Cleveland Browns Star Myles Garrett

Earlier today, it was reported that Cleveland Browns star pass rusher Myles Garrett has informed the team that he wants to be traded.
In a statement released to the public, Garrett wrote:
“As a kid dreaming of the NFL, all I focused on was the ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl — and that goal fuels me today more than ever,” Garrett said in his statement. “My love for the community of Northeast Ohio and the incredible fanbase of the Cleveland Browns has made this one of the toughest decisions of my life. These past eight years have shaped me into the man that I am today.
“While I’ve loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent. The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl. With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns.”
Last week, the Browns responded to Garrett trade rumors by saying that they had no plans on trading him. His request now, though, may change that.
And Packers fans believe that the four-time First Team All-Pro could have a massive impact on their team:

Some fans are concerned about possibly trading for Garrett because of his age (29 years old). However, it should be noted that White was 32 when he signed with the Packers.
In eight seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles before joining Green Bay, White had 124.0 career sacks in eight seasons. In eight seasons with Cleveland, Garrett has 102.5 sacks.
Obviously, very few will ever reach the level that White was both before and during his time with the Packers.
But Garrett could come close, and that would be enough.
