Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is still a free agent after being release by the New York Jets with a post-June 1 designation. While part of his salary cap hit will not come of their books until June, the four-time NFL MVP is free to sign with any team that he chooses.
The problem, though, is that he has not yet made a decision if he even wants to play in 2025. And even if he does, there is just one team remaining that is interested in his services: the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Pittsburgh Steelers Are the Only Team Interested in Former Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers

When the Jets’ decision to move on from Rodgers in 2025 became public knowledge, fans and NFL analysts had a plethora of teams in mind for the four-time NFL MVP. However, as the days and weeks passed, more and more teams found alternative options at the quarterback position.
Eventually, the list of reportedly interested teams was down to three: the Minnesota Vikings, the Steelers, and the New York Giants. However, the Vikings, whom Rodgers reportedly wanted to sign with the most, informed the future Pro Football Hall of Famer that they were not going to pursue him. Instead, they plan on rolling with JJ McCarthy who missed all of last season, his rookie year, with a torn ACL.
Earlier this week, the New York Giants signed not one, but two starting caliber quarterbacks instead of the former Packers star. First, they agreed to terms with former number one overall pick Jameis Winston, then with former Wisconsin Badgers star Russell Wilson.
While they have not officially ruled out adding Rodgers as well, it is difficult to see the future Pro Football Hall of Famer signing up for a situation in which he has to compete for a starting job.
Ergo, the Steelers are really the only realistic option available for him.
Green Bay Packers Legend LeRoy Butler Thinks Aaron Rodgers Would Take the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Super Bowl

Pittsburgh was 10-7 last year and added two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver DK Metcalf during this offseason. However, they saw both of their top quarterbacks, Wilson and Justin Fields, sign with other teams in free agency.
Even if they were not the only team interested in Rodgers, they very well may present him with the best chance of winning another Super Bowl, something that Pro Football Hall of Famer and Packers great LeRoy Butler thinks will happen if they land the four-time NFL MVP.
“If he comes in, I think you have a legitimate chance to get to the Super Bowl,” Butler told Ty Dunne on the ‘Go Long TD’ podcast. “If Aaron Rodgers goes to Pittsburgh, you expect them to be in the Super Bowl. They’ll be my Super Bowl pick if he goes there.”
However, Butler also thinks Rodgers needs to change something about himself if that is going to happen.
“Aaron gotta give up the control, and I think Pittsburgh is the only team that can do that. He has to give up the control and really become not the bird that comes in with the worm feeding one of the babies, he has to be one of the babies, with his mouth open. Want to receive coaching and receive the whole team concept, and the only place that can do that is Pittsburgh because Tomlin ain’t going for what the Jets went for.”
