During the training camp period, the Green Bay Packers had an intense kicking battle for the 2024 season. Greg Joseph, Anders Carlson, and other kickers were brought into camp to compete for the job.
However, none of those players won the job, and the Packers’ kicker happened to be Brayden Narveson. He spent training camp with the Tennessee Titans and has performed well in the first two weeks of the NFL season.
New York Giants are Signing Former Green Bay Packers Kicker Greg Joseph To the Active Roster
The New York Giants on Tuesday placed kicker Graham Gano on injured reserve after suffering an injury on the opening kickoff on Sunday against the Washington Commanders. Because of this, they needed to make a move for a kicker.
According to Greg Joseph’s agent Tesslersports, the Giants are signing the veteran kicker to the active 53-man roster from the Detroit Lions practice squad. This is a very good move for New York with Gano on injured reserve.
When Anders Carlson got released, many thought Greg Joseph was going to make the Green Bay Packers 53-man roster, but it didn’t turn out to be the case. New York needed a kicker because they could have won the game against the Washington Commanders on Sunday if they had another kicker on the roster.
Fans React
Some of the Giants fans reactions were interesting on Twitter. This is what some of them had to say about Joseph signing with the New York Giants:
Giants needed a kicker bad with theirs injured. But let’s be real the giants need a TON of help

The Giants bringing in Greg Joseph from the Lions’ practice squad is a smart move to strengthen their kicking game. His experience could be a valuable asset for the team.

It was less than two years ago when Joseph hit that 61-yard field goal to win the game for the Minnesota Vikings against the New York Giants. He will be reliable for a team that is looking for their first win this weekend against the Cleveland Browns on the road.
